Australia Cup Recap: Late Ozzi Heroics send us to the Round of 32

Australia Cup Round #7

Our Lions Men earned their place in the Australia Cup Round of 32 after fighting back against a strong Redlands side in a hard-fought second half.

A late second-half comeback saw our Lions Men secure a place in the Australia Cup Round of 32.

A tense first half in Redlands saw our Lions suffer under the pressure of a highly attacking Redlands outfit. Borean was called on to make an important save after the hosts continued to create danger from corners.

Ivan Ozzi created several chances down the left flank, feeding the ball into the centre of the box to create opportunities for Andy Pengelly in the centre.

The hosts stroked home the breakthrough minutes after the half-hour mark, sending us into the break with a massive obstacle to overcome.

We started the second half strongly, with Andy Pengelly lashing us level from the right side of the box. A collision ten minutes later saw Redlands handed a red card as the game became more physical.

Joe Duckworth forced a fantastic save at the bottom right corner as the game drew closer to extra time.

When a heroic moment was needed, Ivan Ozzi stepped us, rushing onto a Matt Ridenton cross at the back post and hammering a downward header into the right side of goal.

This match sees our Lions Men progress to the Round of 32!
