Metro Divisional Football
Divisional football is a community competition that provides opportunities for boys & girls aged 13 – 18 to play at a fun and competitive level while developing their skills.
It is a fantastic way for players to gain an introduction to football while developing their football skills and understanding of the game.
Delivered by clubs across Australia, Metro Divisional provides opportunities for boys and girls of all abilities, shapes and sizes to play football.
Football is the game that everyone can play, so get involved and join our Metro Divisional team today!
At Lions Football Club, we have teams participating in the Metro Divisional age group competitions from Under 13s to Under 18s.
There has been a change to the registration process this year on Squadi, with an additional link to complete the Playfootball v2.0 part, enabling you to play the season. It is a requirement to be registered prior to training sessions in March in order to take the field for fixtures commencing in April. More information can be found below.
Please follow these instructions to register as a player for the 2025 season.
We strongly encourage using a laptop or PC to complete the registrations, as there have been issues previously when using a phone or tablet.
Miniroos (U6 and U7) – $500
Miniroos (U8 to U12) – $650, including $100 volunteer levy
Metro Divisional teams (U13 to U18) – $800 including $100 volunteer levy
After logging in, follow the below steps to register for a competition:
1. In the Membership Details, select the Player option
2. Once selected, Squadi will provide you with options to register based on your/your child’s age. Depending on your child’s age, you may not see both the below options, but they are there for illustration purposes. All players 11 years and under (born 2014 and later) will select “MINIROOS – PLAYER”. All players 12 years and over (born 2012 and earlier) need to select “OUTDOOR PLAYER – JUNIOR – PLAYER”
3. This will then prompt a drop-down box to select competition.
4. There is a section where you can type “Play with a Friend” if you’d like to play on the same team. If you are keen to keep the same team as last year (Miniroos), please type in the players’ details here. There is a limit set by FQ of 3 friends in this section. We will accommodate as many requests as possible.
5. Complete the required questions on the next page, including your FFA number if known
6. The next part will take you to the payment screen, where you can choose to pay the competition fees upfront or in instalments.
When registering on Squadi, there are 2 options for payment of fees.
The first payment includes the FQ fee and is one-fifth of the total owing. The remaining 4 payments will be automatically deducted on the 1st of February, March, April and May. Should a payment fail, players will be unable to play until the instalment is paid. You will be notified by Squadi and also Lions FC should it not be rectified within 48 hours.
Irrespective of which payment option you choose, the Football Qld fee is included when completing the SQUADI registration.
· U9-U11 teams $50
· U12-18 teams $66
For those with Fairplay Vouchers, please enter the voucher number in the “Government Voucher” section. There is an issue with using the Fairplay voucher and instalments. Please, please contact Sara BEFORE completing the form for assistance – footballadmin@thelion.net.au. You will then need to send us a copy of the voucher to footballadmin@thelion.net.au .
(Please note the Paypa Plane payment plan option is no longer available and Lions FC will not be accepting payments via cash or card in the office)
FQ Squadi Processing fees for both options are:
Direct Debit = 2.0% of transaction amount, plus 30c per transaction
Credit Card = 2.2% of transaction amount, plus 30c per transaction
American Express = 2.85% of transaction amount, plus 30c per transaction
International Cards = 4.0% of transaction amount, plus 30c per transaction
The Football Australia fee is $15 and is payable when completing the Playfootball v2.0 link. FQ and FA have been working on a smooth transition from Squadi registration completion to Playfootball v2.0 registration, however at the time of sending this communication, it hasn’t occurred. The process will be that once you’ve completed the Squadi registration, you will be prompted to complete Playfootball v2.0 immediately. If you finish Squadi registration and this doesn’t occur, it means FA and FQ haven’t finalised the link, and you will be sent it later.
Whilst we understand the 2 step process isn’t ideal, Playfootball v2.0 registration is COMPULSORY for players to complete before they are able to play any fixture.
Miniroos fixtures commence on April 26th 2025, with training beginning in March. Fixtures are played on Saturdays. We will notify registered players in mid to late January of the exact dates. Please see below for the training days for each age group. As mentioned previously, Kangaroos teams will be selected once training commences. There will be an additional $100 payable for those selected in the Kangaroos squads.
Divisional fixtures are scheduled to commence the weekend of March 7-9. U13 teams will have 4 weeks of grading fixtures from this date, with the first competition round commencing the weekend of April 25-27. There will be internal grading for players in age groups if the following registration numbers are reached – U13 (more than 13 players) and U14-18 (more than 17 players). All Divisional teams will be graded in accordance with FQ regulations and in coordination with Lions FC.
Girls’ teams will be formed based on registration numbers, with the likelihood of dual ages being chosen – e.g. those born in 2012 and 2011 forming a U14 girl’s team or those born in 2011 and 2010 forming a U15 girl’s team.
Training nights for U13 – 18 Divisional teams will be on Monday and Wednesday at CJ Greenfield from 6:30-7:45pm.
Please note that whilst every effort will be made to have teams in all age groups, should numbers not reach minimums for a particular age group, we will offer the option to play up an age group (if available) as an option or provide refunds.
As per previous years, we rely on volunteer coaches for our Miniroos and Divisional teams. If you are keen to coach again or try your hand for the first time, please contact either our Football Operations Manager, Matt Field – mfield@thelion.net.au or our Miniroos Coordinator, Tom – miniroos@thelion.net.au. Parent/Guardian coaches will be reimbursed half of their child’s fees at the conclusion of the season.
Please contact either Matt or Sara (footballadmin@thelion.net.au) if you require any further explanation.
Our football office will close on Monday, 23rd December 2024, and reopen on Thursday, 2nd January 2025.
All the best for the holiday break, and we look forward to enjoying a great 2025 season with you!
