30/12/22  –  Football Queensland have advised that information regarding the new registration process will be released to clubs by Friday 6 January 2023 – please check back after that date. The system will be open for registrations on Monday 9 January 2023.

 

JUNIOR FOOTBALL SEASON:

The Junior Football season starts with registration in January, and training begins in late February/early March.  The fixture season starts in April, and concludes in mid-September.

REGISTRATION INFORMATION:

All players are required to self-register online with Football Australia (FA)  –  the  registration system will be open from 9 January 2023.

AGE GROUPS:

There are two levels of football played at Lions – Advanced Junior Leagues (Football Queensland Academy) and Community Football teams.

All teams in the Advanced Junior FQA Leagues have been selected, and there are no vacancies at present.

At the Community Football level, junior players are divided into three age groups:

  1. KICKOFF                         3 to 5 years
  2. MINIROOS                      5 to 12 years
  3. METRO DIVISIONAL      13 to 18 years
  1. Information on the Kickoff program will be available in March 2023 –  this training-only program will start in late April/early May (two separate programs, one in Term 2 and one in Term 3)
  2. Registration for Miniroos age group teams will be accepted from January 2023 until teams are full.
  3. For Metro Divisional teams (Div 1, Div 2 etc) –  our allocations for 2023 in the Metro South divisions are yet to be confirmed by Football Queensland.  Trials for our divisional teams will be run at the start of training in 2023; players will be allocated when training starts (mid-February, dates to be confirmed on registration)

TRAINING/GAMES:

  • Kickoff players (training only program) train on Saturday mornings –  no games
  • Under 6 to Under 9 Miniroos club teams train one evening per week; games on Saturday mornings
  • Under 10 to Under 12 Miniroos club teams train two evenings per week; games on Saturday mornings
  • Under 13 to Under 18 Metro Divisional teams train two evenings per week; games usually on Sundays.

Training days/times will be confirmed in early 2023.

2023 FEES:

Registration Fees for the 2023 season will be as follows:

  • Kickoff (3 to 5 yrs)                                         TO BE ADVISED
  • MiniRoos (5 to 12 yrs)                                   $650 (includes $100 Volunteer Levy)
  • Metro Divisional Teams (13 to 18 yrs)           $750 (includes $100 Volunteer Levy)

Registration Fees for Miniroos & Metro Divisional teams include the following:

  • A suitably qualified coach
  • All Referee/Match Fees
  • Training kit (Shirt, Shorts, Socks)
  • Club Shirt
  • Boot bag
  • Water bottle
  • Ball (used during the season by coaches/teams, distributed to players at the end of the season)
  • Presentation Day (including trophies and team photo)
  • Sports Medicine personnel at all home games
  • Player Insurance (FQ)
  • Affiliation Fees to Associations (FA/FQ)
  • Field Maintenance, Electricity/Water etc.
  • Membership to Licensed Club for parents.
  • Volunteer Levy of $100 (refunded at the end of the season if 4 hours of time is volunteered)
