KPS R4: Immense Victory In A Heavy Metal Clash

OUR LIONS MEN EMERGED TRIUMPHANT WITH A 3-1 VICTORY AFTER A PHYSICALLY DEMANDING AND INTENSE BATTLE AT LUXURY PAINTS STADIUM

It was a physical start against St. George Willawong, and their intent was clear immediately. They looked fired up, quick to press, and willing to fight hard for the ball.

We exploited the spaces out wide in the early stages, with Finn Beakhurst glancing an early volley high and wide at the back post. James Enticknap forces a sharp save at the bottom left corner after a first-time strike from the edge of the box.

Mitch Hore glided a swift ball between the St. George defence, which Luke Broderick attacked with blistering pace. His tight-angled strike was blocked by the keeper but redirected slowly over the goal line via his leg.

The breakthrough didn’t last, with the visitors capitalising on a defensive error and burying the equaliser two minutes later.

Andy Pengelly saw his first-time volley saved firmly after a swift and intricate counterattack, and Joe Duckworth watched a piercing freekick parried away at the bottom right corner!

We looked to dig our own grave as we gave away a penalty five minutes before half-time, but Cardiff Pond was ready. He dived quickly to his left to palm the spot-kick away before recovering quickly to catch a fierce follow-up strike!

We entered the half pinned at 1-1 after an overwhelming, physical, frantic, and intense first half.

It was a difficult game to take control over, but we kicked off the second half knowing what was required. Emmett Shaw was brought on during the break, and we continued pushing for the breakthrough amidst late challenges, relentless runs, and heavy metal football.

We found the breakthrough before the hour mark after a neatly designed move saw Joe Duckworth clip a first-time cross to the back post, which a rising Andy Pengelly glanced into the bottom right corner with accuracy!

The intensity didn’t let up after the goal. We brought relentlessly as the visitors hammered our defence in search of an equaliser. Fouls were committed, and yellow cards brandished as they fought to recover possession aggressively, and we fought to find space in the final third.

Luke Broderick planted a first-time shot over the crossbar from close range, and Shaun Carlos speared a bouncing strike wide of the bottom left corner in the later stages of the game.

As the clock struck ninety, Trent Millard provided relief with a beautifully finished goal to make it 3-1 in the final moments. A crucial victory was secured after a laborious battle at Luxury Paints Stadium.
