OUR LIONS MEN WIN THEIR FIFTH NPL GAME IN A ROW WITH A DOMINANT 3-0 DEMONSTRATION OVER ST GEORGE
We kicked straight into gear on a sunny Sunday afternoon at Luxury Paints Stadium. Andy Pengelly landed our first strike of the game, arriving at the back post and lifting a first-time effort over the crossbar.
Making his debut in orange & blue, Oskar Dillon almost provided an outstanding assist, switching the play wide to Luke Broderick with a pitch-dividing through ball from the edge of his own box. Luke made an excellent run, but his close-range effort was saved at the near post.
Jack Skinner forced a diving save with a rising effort from the edge of the box, and Jackson Hart-Phillips made a perfect sliding challenge inside the box to prevent a deadly one-v-one situation.
With the game looking destined to remain goalless at the break, Jack Skinner stepped up with an excellent strike to find the net. A spinning first-time effort drilled under the keeper from the edge of the box!

We entered the break leading 1-0 at home.
We built upon our strong momentum immediately after the restart, and within ten minutes, Andy Pengelly had forced our second goal. A fantastic strike from the edge of the box, that clattered the crossbar and was finished in confusion by the St. George goalkeeper.

We continued to create chances, with Mitch Hore forcing a diving save and Jack Skinner creating several key moments with his electric attacking runs. Andy Pengelly scored at last to continue his strong goalscoring streak, finishing neatly across the keeper from close range!

Matt Acton and Liam McArthur were subbed into the game to make their debuts, putting in a strong performance to ensure we walked off the field with a proud result.
Our fifth straight victory in the NPL competition, and our fifth NPL cleansheet of the season. An important result as we look ahead to next weekend’s top-of-the-table clash against Moreton City Excelsior!
