MITCH HORE’S LATE WINNER KEEPS OUR TITLE HOPES ALIVE IN A THRILLING 2-1 VICTORY OVER PENINSULA POWER
With no room for error as we chase down the league leaders, we faced a strong Peninsula Power side away from home, looking to overtake us in the race for second place. With a defeat and a draw in our previous two meetings, dropping points was out of the question.
Jack Skinner got our Lions Men off to the perfect start, swinging a searing first-time effort into the roof of the net from point-blank range! The goal fell after a series of chances that saw Andy Pengelly guide a header into the crossbar, and Jackson Hart-Phillips was denied at point-blank range!

A series of chances from Shaun Carlos tested the keeper as we maintained our intensity over the opening thirty minutes. It was a dominant first half that saw us comfortably outshine our opponents in possession and chance creation, but we entered the interval with a slender 1-0 lead to expand on.
As the second half resumed, Jack Skinner took on half the field, surging down the left flank and veering inside before forcing a diving save with a stinging low strike.
The hosts found a shock equaliser in the final twenty minutes, catching us in transition before firing a sharp effort into the bottom right corner from distance.
It only took ten minutes to respond, with Jackson Hart-Phillips’ arcing cross meeting Mitch Hore at the back post. He turned inside swiftly with his back to goal before rifling a thunderous effort through the keeper and into the upper right corner!

We maintained our focus for the final ten minutes, securing a critical victory on the road. With St. George Willawong stunning Moreton City Excelsior in a 5-2 demolition, our Lions Men are now only two points behind the leaders with three games remaining.
