A PATIENT AND IMPRESSIVE PERFORMANCE SAW OUR LIONS MEN OVERCOME GOLD COAST UNITED WITH A 2-0 WIN
Under bleak, cloudy skies on the Gold Coast, our Lions Men secured a crucial victory to keep us two points behind league leaders Moreton City Excelsior.
Jack Skinner drilled a stinging effort wide of the bottom left corner inside the opening ten minutes, and Oskar Dillon pointed a powerful header over the crossbar from a James Enticknap corner.
Another strong delivery from a corner saw Tommy Jarrard pinch a piercing header shy of the top right corner as we sought to turn our early dominance into a breakthrough. Matt Acton was forced to make a couple of crucial close-range saves at his near post while Jack Skinner guided a long-distance effort wide of the top right corner.
Despite a promising start in Tallebudgera, we entered the break locked level at 0-0.
Ten minutes after the restart, we found our goal at last. Sixteen-year-old Emmett Shaw buried his first strike in the NPL, firing a powerful effort across the keeper from a tight angle on the right side of the box.

Both Andy Pengelly and Mitch Hore threatened the goal with close-range headers, and Andy nodded home our security goal with a pointed downward header at the near post!

We continued to overload the hosts in the final twenty minutes, with Jack Skinner, Jackson Hart-Phillips, Mitch Hore, and Oskar Dillon all coming agonisingly close to producing the third goal. We held on for a necessary 2-0 victory on the road.
Our U23s Lions Men secured a crucial 2-0 victory as they look to clinch a second-place finish and a home semi-final. Tressor Christophe opened the scoring early in the first half with a downward header from the centre of the box, and Zane North’s clinical effort after the break ensured we took all three points in a strong performance on the road.
