NPLM R4: Easts Conquered

First half brilliance saw our Lions Men topple Eastern Suburbs with a powerful 3-1 victory at Heath Park

Off the back of our first NPL win last weekend, and our midweek extra-time triumph in the Kappa Pro Series Semi-Finals, our Lions Men entered Heath Park united and ready.

And five minutes in, Alex Fiechtner picked up where he left off on Tuesday night, finding the back of the net to break the deadlock after a sleek pass from Harvey Pope!

There was fire and intensity in our actions, and we remained completely dominant as the Tigers tried to ease into the game and look for an equaliser. Cher Deng made a strong tackle to prevent a shot, and Luke Broderick snuck inside at the near post to finish a Shaun Carlos cross with finesse!

Luke Broderick and Alex Fiechtner saw chances fail to convert as we looked to put the game to bed in the first half, and Jacson Riley made a calm save to keep our cleansheet intact. On the stroke of half-time, Alex Fiechtner steered a powerful effort into the upper right corner following a set-piece!

Three-nil at the interval. Game over. Almost.

The second half continued much the same as the first, without the treble of goals to showcase our dominance.

Harvey Pope forced a save from distance, and Tuquiri Beckett skied a shot over the crossbar from distance after a series of unpunished chances eventually fell to him. Jackson Hart-Phillips forced a diving save from close range, and Alex Fiechtner struck the side-netting in search of his hattrick goal.

The hosts recovered a goal with five minutes remaining, but our Lions Men held their ground and saw out an imposing 3-1 victory to make it three games unbeaten in the NPL, and to cap off a brilliant week with three wins in three.
