A RUTHLESS AND ELECTRIFYING PERFORMANCE SAW OUR LIONS MEN DECIMATE PENINSULA POWER IN A 3-0 SEMI-FINAL VICTORY AT HOME
We bid farewell to Luxury Paints Stadium and booked our tickets to Peninsula Power in style. From the first minute until the final, there was only one team on the park.
The warning signs were immediate when Alex Fiechtner lazered a furious first-time strike into the right post from the edge of the box, and five minutes into the game, he had his goal. Catching the keeper off his line from a slender angle near the corner flag, Alex turned and clipped a curling effort into the bottom left corner before anybody could react!

Our Lions Men remained dominant in possession, despite no chances materialising in the period after the goal. We dealt with Peninsula Power without any stress, and continued to search for a second goal in what became an increasingly physical and aggressive affair.
A cynical foul on Alex Fiechtner was ignored inside the box, and minutes before the half-time whistle, Shaun Carlos buried our second! A powerful backpost strike after Alex Fiechtners curling long-range effort was parried away unconvincingly.

Shaun was inches away from burying our third before the break, but a slight deflection forced it shy of the top right corner. Alex forced another save on the stroke of half-time, before a penetrating run from Jack Skinner unleashed him into space. His effort, this time, sailed off target. And we entered the break leading 2-0!
The second half was all business. Our midfield of Joe Duckworth, Shaun Carlos, and Mitch Hore worked tirelessly to dictate the tempo, while our defensive quartet ensured Peninsula Power’s usually effective frontline was completely nullified.
Luke Broderick nodded a fantastic glancing header wide of the front post after emerging from the bench, and Oskar Dillon made an exceptional goal-line clearance to prevent a guaranteed goal for the visitors!
With ten minutes remaining, Shaun Carlos completed the job, burying another furious first-time effort to effectively wrap-up the tie!

Matt Acton was forced to make his first real save of the night with five minutes remaining, reacting quickly at his near post. And our Lions Men remained proud in the final moments to secure an imposing 3-0 victory in the Semi-Final at home!

Our U23s NPL Men’s campaign came to an end in the Semi-Final on Friday night. Playing at Imperial Corp Stadium against Premiers’ Brisbane City, our U23s Men battled out a tough and physical 1-0 defeat to conclude their campaign. Well done to Nathan Shepherd and the boys on a strong 2025 season.
