NPLW R11: A Smashing Display at Ballinger Park

OUR LIONS WOMEN TRAMPLED THE WANDERERS IN A 6-0 DEMOLITION AT BALLINGER PARK

We didn’t require patience to break the deadlock against the Sunshine Coast Wanderers. Kiersten Yuhas took the entire field by surprise by guiding a deep cross from the right flank into the top left corner. A touch from the back-pedalling keeper wasn’t enough to keep the ball out of the net!

Meaghan McElligott drew the next shot over the crossbar from the left shoulder, but found the back of the net two minutes later on the opposite flank. A great finish across the keeper and into the bottom left corner!

The hosts posed little threat as we controlled possession and dictated the tempo of the game. Shianne Rosselli created plenty of danger down the left flank, and our defence remained unfazed as the Wanderers looked to catch us on the counter.

Meaghan McElligott made it 3-0 inside twenty-five minutes, and carried that scoreline into the break after a convincing first half.

The second half resumed without a hitch.

Rachel Dudley planted an emphatic header into the upper right corner to make it 4-0 after the hour mark, and any chance of a Wanderers miracle was erased. An outstanding early cross from Shianne Rosselli created the goal!

Scarlett Premerl promptly made it five after joining from the bench. A sleek diagonal run off the shoulder before rifling a rising strike into the top right corner at the near post!

Scarlett won a penalty minutes later, and Emileigh Bowman placed a neat spot-kick down the centre to double our first-half score!

We saw out the final ten minutes and continued our scintillating form in April. A second consecutive cleansheet, and another deadly display in the final third.
