LIONS WOMEN PUT QAS TO THE SWORD IN A PHYSICAL BATTLE AND HOME

Our Lions Women showcased quality and control, withstanding a demanding physical encounter and dominating when it mattered.

LIONS VS QAS: NPL WOMEN

A measured display in a tense encounter resulted in a comprehensive victory at home.

In a match largely dominated by tactical fouls and aggressive challenges, our Lions Women showed resilience, seizing the reins five minutes before the break through a ruthless and untethered strike from Rebecca Kirkup broke into the top right corner from an awkward angle.

Continuing her fine form, Meghan McElligott steered a sharp Teagan Thompson cutback into the back of the net from close range before Tegan Riding was hacked down for a penalty after rounding the keeper with ease. Her subsequent strike would, unfortunately, flash wide of the bottom left post.

With complete control in the final thirty minutes, our Lionesses sprayed shots at the goal, hardly allowing the guests to exit their own half. The icing on the cake in this thorough demolition came through Tiarna Karambasis, who stroked a loose ball into the top-left corner from 30 yards out.

This victory allowed us to extend our lead at the top of the table, marking an important victory in a competitive 2023 competition.
