Lions FC Junior Cher Deng Signs A-Leagues Contract With Perth Glory
Lions FC is proud to announce that NPL Men’s player and former Lions Junior Cher Deng has signed a two-year professional contract with A-Leagues side Perth Glory.
At just 21-years-old, Cher has already played a key part in the history of this club, joining as a junior before returning to the club ahead of the 2026 season. In his first senior season at Luxury Paints Stadium, Cher has impressed immensely, playing a key role as we lifted three trophies with the Kappa Pro Series, Kappa QLD Cup, and the NPL Premiership.
Cher has been a pillar in our extraordinary Hahn Australia Cup success, dominating against Perth Glory, Melbourne City, and North Sunshine Eagles SC as we progressed to our first-ever Semi-Final appearance. He was named Man of the Match against Perth Glory, and has won 83% of his aerial duels across those three games, making 30 clearances and 40 overall defensive contributions.

Scoring the final goal in his last appearance during our 4-0 Quarter Final victory over North Sunshine Eagles was a beautiful way to close his chapter with Lions FC. He walked off the field to a standing ovation at Luxury Paints Stadium with over 2,700 supporters applauding him.
Senior Men’s Coach Dan Barber shared his gratitude for Cher’s contributions to the club, and congratulated him on taking the next steps in his professional career.

Developing players and preparing them for opportunities beyond Lions FC remains a key part of what we are building as a club. Through the continued work within our Academy and senior football programs, our aim is to provide talented young players with a genuine pathway from junior football through to senior football and, ultimately, the professional game.
