KPS R2: Alex Fiechtner Hattrick Headlines Dominant Result

ALEX FIECHTNER SPEARHEADED A VIBRANT TEAM PERFORMANCE WITH A CLINICAL HATTRICK IN A 7-0 VICTORY

Back in orange and back at home, our Lions Men wasted no time targeting the opposite goal. A two-minute chance from Andy Pengelly was our first, and he forced another sharp save at the near post just minutes later.

We broke the deadlock in the eighth minute. Our diagonal switches of play and divisive passing eventually picked the space. Luke Broderick ran onto an aerial ball down the left flank, firing a brutal cross towards the back post for Alex Fiechtner to plant in the back of the net.

After a great debut against Wynnum Wolves on Friday evening, Emmett Shaw continued his strong start to the season by rising at the back post to nod home our second goal!

We continued to create danger in the final third, dominating in possession and delivering a constant threat with forward passing and overhead balls out wide. Emmett Shaw took advantage of these passes, running into the box before rounding the keeper with a slick first touch. Despite a beautiful move, his shot was blocked firmly by the nearest centreback.

Alex Fiechtner ensured our lead remained firm as we entered the break, with his third goal effectively putting the tie to bed on the brink of half-time. A penetrating run saw him beat the offside trap, giving him acres of space to bear down on the keeper before ripping his shot into the upper right corner.

Andy Pengelly won a penalty early in the second half, which Alex Fiechtner distributed down the centre to secure a well-deserved hattrick. He was a nightmare for the SWQ defence every time he touched the ball.

Immediately after the hour-mark, Trent Millard scored his first goal in Lions colours, curling a nicely weighted effort into the upper right side of the goal from the opposite side of the box. Emmett Shaw immediately followed up with his second goal of the evening, bursting into space and clipping a first-time effort over the keeper with finesse.

A second penalty was won in the 75th minute, and Andy Pengelly made no mistake from the spot. He buried a powerful effort into the bottom left corner with conviction, netting his first goal of the 2025 season.

We kept our focus across the final fifteen minutes, continuing to create danger from all angles until the final whistle blew. A fantastic performance to mark our return home and an example of what to expect from us this season.
