KPS R5: Lions Cruise Past Strikers At Perry Park

WE MAINTAIN OUR PERFECT KAPPA PRO SERIES RECORD WITH A 6-1 VICTORY AT PERRY PARK

Our great start to the Kappa Pro Series continued at Perry Park, with Andy Pengelly breaking the deadlock inside ten minutes!

Andy Pengelly continued to create danger in the final third as we looked to double our advantage, pressing the keeper into yielding possession, and almost assisting a goal as Alex Fiechtner’s shot was blocked for a corner.

It didn’t matter, because Jack Skinner was ready at the back post. A penetrating volley under the keeper made it 2-0 inside twenty minutes!

Jack Skinner almost had his second mere minutes later. Tearing down the left flank, he engaged the keeper one-v-one and forced a last-gasp save via the boot!

We continued to control proceedings for the remainder of the half and entered the break with a strong 2-0 lead to build upon.

We started the second half with similar intensity. Andy Pengelly came close to making it 3-0 inside the first few minutes, but his first-time effort was saved firmly.

Alex Fiechtner created plenty of danger from the left flank, surging inside and winning yet another corner as we looked for our third. It was he who scored it.

Flat-footing his defender with a swift touch around him, Alex glided down the left channel before unleashing a precise strike across the keeper and into the bottom right corner.

Two minutes later, Andy Pengelly made it 4-0!

And two minutes after that, the Brisbane Strikers recovered a goal.

We rotated our squad, bringing Tuquiri Beckett, Fred Oyet, Sander Griggs, and Nadir Naouri onto the field. The four youngsters have been excellent for our U23s this season, and more than earned their minutes with the senior team.

Fred Oyet wrapped up the game in style, scoring two quickfire goals in the final minutes to make it 6-1! His first two senior goals in Lions FC colours, and a testament to his incredible talent!

The full-time whistle blew, and we ended our Kappa Pro Series group stage with five wins in five.
