OUR LIONS MEN STORMED THE SNAKE PIT IN BURPENGARY, DEFEATING CABOOLTURE SFC 8-2 IN THE KAPPA PRO SERIES
A Jack Skinner hattrick in an eight-goal demolition sees our Lions Men sit comfortably atop the Pool D table after three games.
Following a balanced start to the game, Jack Skinner drew first blood with a brilliant goal. Picking up possession in the final third, our #20 slalomed through four defenders before rifling the ball into the bottom corner with power. Minutes later, Skinner added his second, slotting home calmly after a defence-splitting ball from Jackson Hart-Phillips.
A penalty ten minutes before half-time saw Pengelly get on the scoresheet, striking brutally into the bottom left corner. With the captain’s armband tight, Joe Duckworth imprinted his mark on the game with a stunning 22-yard strike that curled into the back of the net after fine build-up in the box. We entered the break with a four-goal cushion.
Andy Pengelly grabbed his second goal right after the restart, finishing with composure after tidy interplay in an overcrowded box. Minutes before the hour-mark, Jack Skinner secured his hattrick. Receiving the ball on the edge of the box, Skinner feinted across a sliding defender and picked the bottom corner with precision.
Jake Minett added a seventh from a set-piece, before a period of unfocus saw the hosts pull two goals back. Niall Thom scored his first goal in Lions colours, finishing off the game with a tap-in at the back post.
With 20 goals scored across three Kappa Pro Series games, our Lions Men have set the tempo in 2024.
