KQC Men Round #6: A Tough Contest In Maroochydore

OUR LIONS MEN PROGRESS TO THE NEXT ROUND AFTER A WELL-MET VICTORY OVER A COMPETITIVE MAROOCHYDORE OUTFIT

The Maroochydore Swans gave our Lions Men a difficult night as we fought out a tough 5-3 victory to progress in the Kappa Queensland Cup

Luke Broderick got our Lions Men off to a strong start, opening the scoring within twelve minutes. Shaun Carlos then doubled our lead before the twentieth minute as we started with momentum in Maroochydore.

The Swans didn’t drop their heads, fighting back to recover a goal before the 25th minute. Andy Pengelly quickly re-established our two-goal advantage with a finish on the half-hour mark.

Shaun Carlos contributed his fifth goal of the season since returning from injury, making it 4-1 after thirty minutes.

Yet again, the Swans fought back, recovering a goal on the brink of half-time to send us into the break locked at 4-2.

Within ten minutes of the restart, Maroochydore had made it 4-3, and it was game on. The game was tense as our Lions Men were put under pressure by a lively home side, but Alex Fiechtner eventually provided relief with a finish to make it 5-3.

A great effort from Maroochydore, who are currently battling hard in the FQPL2 competition. Despite going 4-1 down, the hosts continued to fight, giving us an incredibly difficult match as we were placed under pressure in the second half.

We held on and worked hard to secure an important victory that sees us into the next round of the Kappa Queensland Cup.
