TWO GOALS FROM ALEX FIECHTNER SAW OUR LIONS MEN DEFEAT MOGGILL FC 2-1 AT LIVELY BELLBOWRIE SPORTS COMPLEX
The atmosphere delivered everything you would expect from a midweek Kappa Queensland Cup clash! Moggill FC packed the stands, and our Lions Men were met with an energetic FQPL4 side ready to repeat the history of David vs Goliath.
We started on the front foot, with Alex Fiechtner, Jackson Hart-Phillips, and Luke Broderick all testing the keeper inside the opening ten minutes. Five minutes later, Alex found the breakthrough with a beautiful finish into the right side of the net!

The lead many might have expected to open floodgates was short-lived, and the fearless hosts fired back through a blistering counterattack to snatch the equaliser.
Jack Skinner was twice denied in the minutes that followed, again testing the keeper with a series of sharp shots. Despite the score, we were in control of possession, and the challenge lay in unlocking their desperate defence.
Emmett Shaw guided a header over the crossbar after an initial Shaun Carlos shot was parried, and our Lions Men entered the interval locked at 1-1 after an electric half of football.
The second half resumed with no loss in purpose and intensity. Alex Fiechtner combined with Shaun Carlos, but his shot veered narrowly wide.
Cardiff Pond made his presence known, making a valiant save as Moggill FC fired a firm effort towards the bottom right corner. And moments before the hour mark, Alex Fiechtner struck again with a piercing header to give us the lead!

Another resolute save from Cardiff Pond prevented a quick response from the hosts, and Emmett Shaw made a surgical slide tackle to prevent a dangerous shot on the edge of the box. James Enticknap returned to the field after a lengthy spell on the sidelines, forcing a fine save as we searched for a security goal.
We dealt with the pressure in the closing minutes, seeing out an important and well-managed 2-1 victory against Moggill FC. A controlled performance that secures our progression to the next round of the Kappa Queensland Cup.
