Martin Docherty Resigns from Lions FC

Lions FC this afternoon can advise that club Technical Director Martin Docherty has resigned from the club, accepting a role as a Club Development Ambassador with Football Queensland.

After joining the club in late 2020, Martin’s drive to educate our coaching team, has resulted in all levels of coaches attaining accreditation across the spectrum of Miniroos to FQ Academy. Martin has also influenced our Lions player development through the implementation of Skill Development and Emerging Player programs.

While we are disappointed to see Martin depart the club, we understand and respect his decision to pursue an opportunity he is passionate about within the football industry.

On Martin’s departure, Lions FC General Manager Rob Scanlon said, “Martin has been an asset to the club since his arrival. His work in coach education and up-skilling of all our coaches has been second to none and put us in a strong position.”

“Martin has been integral in ensuring all coaches from U6 and up are all qualified with the minimum qualifications and assisting them in developing their skills, ensuring we offer the highest product possible, whether it is community or elite football. Martin will be greatly missed but we are confident we will still see him around the grounds in his new role.”

The club will make further announcements regarding a replacement in due course.
