Kappa Pro Series Round #4
LIONS LEAN FORWARD TO OBLITERATE WOLVES IN A COMPELLING EXHIBITION OF ATTACKING FOOTBALL
Showcasing their quality through intricate passing and endless attacking movement, our Lions tore The Wolves apart in a vicious second half at home.
LIONS VS WYNNUM WOLVES: KAPPA PRO SERIES
Despite an exhilarating end-to-end affair in the first half, our Lions showed teeth after the break, ripping Wolves apart with brutal dominance.
In a game where our Lions walked away 7-1 victors, it is hard to believe that we suffered in the first half. A well-taken goal from a Wolves side showing initiative gave us an initial scare at home, but our Lions responded with claws, drawing level through a powerful Ivan Ozzi nail into the bottom left corner.
Half-time was set to end level until Jesse Rigby flipped the script, heading home a Joe Duckworth set-piece in the final touch of the half.
Our response after the interval was immense. Ivan Ozzi planted a first-time ball into the bottom left corner with no space to take a touch before Fletcher McDonald made it four by the fiftieth minute.
Finn Beakhurst stepped onto the pitch for the second time following a 401-day spell out injured, making an immediate impact as he scooped a tie-settling fifth goal into the roof of the net.
While the goals certainly flattered us, it wasn’t all one-way traffic. Responsive defending and several decisive saves from Aiden Munford allowed us to prevent the Wolves from showing their teeth, while an expansive example of intricate, elegant spider-web passing allowed us to maintain complete dominance over the direction of the game.
After several attempts failed to go his way, Novak Kljajic finally got the goal he was chasing, firing a powerful strike into the centre of the net after a flurry of deflections and miss-kicks fell in his path. Louis Fenton buried home our seventh of the night in a vibrant display of football at Luxury Paints Stadium.
