Another Alex Fiechtner hattrick spotlights a destructive collective display as Brisbane City are put to the sword at home
Facing Brisbane City for the third time this season, and the first time at Spencer Park, it was only right that we put on a masterclass.
Straight off the bat, it was clear which direction this game was heading. Luke Broderick slashed an insane volley over the crossbar from the back post, and as we hit ten minutes of action, Alex Fiechtner spun with his back to goal and rifled the ball into the top left corner!

Jacson Riley made an easy save as City looked for a quick avenue back into the game, and before we had even reached the half-hour mark, a lapse in focus allowed our Lions Men to sneak in with a second. While the hosts were arguing with the referee, Shaun Carlos played the short freekick, and Harvey Pope shot from his own half, clipping the right post and giving Alex Fiechtner an easy 25th NPL goal of the season!

Both Mitch Hore and Alex Fiechtner forced sharp saves, and a thunderous effort from Shaun Carlos was tipped over the crossbar. Cher Deng rose in the centre of the box to put the game to bed, hammering a powerful downward header into the bottom left corner!

We entered the break leading by three goals.
Harvey Pope was denied quickly after the break, and Alex Fiechtner wrapped up his hattrick after the hour with a lethal strike across the keeper!

Jerson Lagos returned to the field for the first time since his injury against Rochedale Rovers, and quickly bent a powerful strike wide of the top corner! Harvey Pope slid the ball across goal, with Tommy Jarrard missing the target by inches.
Blair Ponting and Tuquiri Beckett had a series of strong chances, and the game ended 4-0. Congratulations to Dan Barber and our Lions Men on another impeccable performance. We’re second on the table with a game in hand, but our attention is drawn to the Kappa Queensland Cup this weekend, where a win can put us into the National Round of the Australia Cup.
