Under bright Sunday afternoon sunlight, our Lions Men strode straight into action against the Sunshine Coast Wanderers. Joe Duckworth created an early chance for Alex Fiechtner with a clean diagonal switch, but the winger dragged his shot wide after a penetrating run inside!
Mitch Hore forced a diving save after latching onto a misdirected Alex Fiechtner, and Andy Pengelly broke the deadlock minutes later after an expansive team move that flowed from one goal box to another!

A fine cross from Mitch Hore saw Andy Pengelly point a punishing header wide of the bottom right corner, and Jackson Hart-Phillips buried our second. A neat backheeled lay-off from Andy Pengelly after a great run from Jack Skinner saw the ball deflect wide for Jackson to rifle into the top right corner on the bounce!

With total control and relentless creative chance creation, it wasn’t long until our Lions Men notched a game-ending third goal. No answers to our questions, Andy Pengelly punished the Wanderers with a golden first-time strike after another surgical attacking transition!

Andy Pengelly forced a fine save from a tight angle, and Alex Fiechtner struck a first-time effort wide after a rehearsed collective move down the left flank. With three goals behind us, we entered the break with a firm lead.
The job resumed in the forty-sixth minute, and nothing changed in our approach. Sunshine Coast Wanderers attacked with increased desperation, but Hassan Ramazani and Tommy Jarrard dealt with every cross that threatened our goal.
Jackson Hart-Phillips forced an uncomfortable save with a powerful cross that threatened to sink over the keeper, and Luke Broderick won a penalty after the hour to stress the visitors further. Andy Pengelly made no mistake, firing a firm spot-kick into the bottom left corner to secure his hattrick!

We maintained focus, with Hassan Ramazani making a clinical goal-line clearance and Cardiff Pond making an excellent diving save as the visitors looked to dent an otherwise faultless performance!
Tuquiri Beckett tried to catch the keeper off his line from an outrageous distance, but a fingertip save denied him, and our Lions Men walked off the field with a classy 4-0 victory to cement our position in first!
