Our Lions Men left it late but delivered when it mattered most, securing a 2-0 victory over Olympic FC at Luxury Paints Stadium on Saturday night.
The opening stages saw both sides settle into a physical contest, with our Lions creating the first real opportunities of the evening.
In the 10th minute, Rahmat Akbari’s pinpoint free-kick found Zane North inside the area. Rising highest, Zane connected cleanly with his header, only for his effort to graze the crossbar and sail just over the net as we came agonisingly close to an early opener.
The second half saw our Lions continue to press for the breakthrough. In the 62nd minute, Alex Fiechtner unleashed a dangerous strike towards goal, forcing the Olympic goalkeeper into a sharp save as he leapt to punch the effort away.
As the clock continued to tick, our Lions kept pushing. In the 74th minute, Eremugo Debele showed great composure to find Luke Broderick, who created space and fired from a tight angle, with his effort narrowly missing the target as it struck the outside of the net.
The breakthrough finally arrived in the 82nd minute. Alex Fiechtner picked up the ball on the edge of the 18-yard box and unleashed a powerful strike that took a deflection off the post before finding the back of the net, sending Luxury Paints Stadium into celebration.

With the result still in the balance, Luke Broderick put the game beyond doubt in the 90th minute. Showing brilliant composure, Luke danced past his defender with a clever side-to-side movement before firing home from another tight angle to seal all three points.
