OUR LIONS MEN COMPLETE AN EXTRAORDINARY SECOND-HALF COMEBACK TO TRIUMPH 4-3 AT LUXURY PAINTS STADIUM
There are good starts and there are bad starts. We chose the latter.
With less than three minutes on the clock, Brisbane City snatched the lead after overloading us in the centre of the box. Cardiff Pond initially made a great save at the bottom left corner, but the follow-up effort was forced through his reaching glove and into the back of the net.
Before the tenth minute, Brisbane City stunned us with a second goal. A quick run down the left flank, and a piercing finish from an improbable angle sliced behind Cardiff Pond.
It was a physical clash, as always, and there was no shortage of shouting, shoving, and desperate challenges.
Our backs were firmly against the wall until Luke Broderick summoned a goal out of nowhere. A quick release down the right channel, and his sharp right-footed cross is deflected over the keeper at the front post!

Our lifeline was short-lived as Brisbane City conjured up a deflected strike of their own to stun Cardiff Pond from close range. We entered the break trailing 3-1 and in need of a monumental comeback.
We put the first half behind us like a distant memory and came out swinging with intent and precision. Three minutes after the restart, Andy Pengelly recovered a goal, stretching acrobatically to poke a high ball into the top left corner!

The chances continued to flow in our favour as we took total control over our domain. Hassan Ramazani and Tommy Jarrard dealt swiftly with any threat the visitors attempted to create.
With the breakthrough looking inevitable, Luke Broderick found the pot of gold, receiving a high cross in the centre of the box calmly, before dispatching it past the keeper from close range!

We weathered a brutal storm for the final five minutes as Brisbane City fought desperately and aggressively for an equaliser. The boys remained level-headed, focused, and indomitable as we completed a remarkable and revitalising comeback in the Brisbane Classico.
