A PERFECT PERFORMANCE ACROSS THE PARK AS OUR LIONS MEN LEAVE NUDGEE WITH A REWARDING THREE POINTS

Alex Fiechtner’s brace helped our Lions Men secure a 5-0 victory over Brisbane Roar in a dominant demonstration on the road.

High pressing and controlled possession saw our Lions start with speed. Finn Beakhurst created an early chance in the opening five minutes, surging forward to recover possession before burning down the touchline and hooking a dangerous cross at the keeper.

We opened the scoring early through Alex Fiechtner, who ran into space before directing his shot across the keeper and inside the left stick. Two passes straight down the centre created the chance out of nowhere.

Alex Fiechtner was denied a stunning goal, catching a Jake Bulla Minett lofted ball on the half-volley. His well-struck effort was caught calmly by Lachlan Duke.

A beautiful team goal doubled our advantage. A long spell of possession saw Hassan Ramazani play the ball down the left before a quick exchange of first-time passes freed Joshua Brindell-South into space. His cutback met Luke Broderick, who rolled the ball into the path of Joe Duckworth to sweep into the bottom left corner with elegance.

Luke Broderick made it three after squeezing a brutal strike under the keeper from a narrow angle. We entered the half with a well-deserved 3-0 lead.

The rhythm resumed as we kicked off the second half. Jake Bulla Minett came close to scoring, but despite beating the keeper with his shot, the ball was cleared off the line.

Minutes after the hour mark, James Enticknap hit a stunning fourth. Taking a heavy touch to set the ball into space, he stroked a dipping strike over the keeper and into the upper left corner from distance.

Jack Skinner and Finn Beakhurst both forced fine saves as we looked for a fifth, while our defence remained resolute as Roar looked for a consolation goal. With over 10 corners and over 25 shots, our Lions continued to apply the pressure, with Alex Fiechtner securing his brace to make it 5-0.

Skirting inside from the right flank, Alex shuffled across two defenders before curling a precise effort into the bottom left corner to wrap up the game.

A massive result on the road as we continue to mount pressure in the NPL title race.
