NPLM Round #16: A COMPLETE TEAM PERFORMANCE

LIONS MEN SCORE FOUR UNANSWERED GOALS IN A COMPREHENSIVE VICTORY OVER SUNSHINE COAST WANDERERS

Dominic Horwood and Andy Pengelly scored twice each in a total performance at Luxury Paints Stadium

Dominic Horwood helped our Lions Men to a fast start, forcing the opening goal within ten minutes after pressuring the keeper into fumbling the ball over the line. Alex Fiechtner made a sharp header across the goal that the keeper appeared to smother, but a loose touch and quick instincts from Dom saw our Lions force the ball over the line.

With strong attacking intent, we continued to attack in droves. Andy Pengelly forced a brilliant reactive save after a powerful first-time shot from close range.

Our defence remained resolute as the visitors attempted to catch us in transition. Hassan Ramazani reacted excellently to smother a blistering counterattack as the game edged towards the half-hour mark.

On the brink of half-time, Dominic Horwood secured his second goal, rising to clip a looping header over the keeper and under the crossbar. We entered the break with a 2-0 lead.

We started with the same momentum after kicking off the restart. An early third goal was our reward for a powerful start.

It was brilliant attacking football that began with an Alex Fiechtner scorpion first touch and ended with Andy Pengelly drilling an emphatic first-time shot into the right side of the goal.

Andy Pengelly then made it four with a simple header after a brutal strike from Jackson Hart-Phillips ricocheted off the underside of the crossbar.

Jack Skinner clipped the bottom right post after cutting inside sharply, and our Lions Men remained composed and dominant as we saw out a comprehensive result at home.
