TWO FIRST-HALF GOALS SECURE A GOVERNING 2-0 VICTORY OVER QAS AT HOME
We set the tone early with immediate intensity against the QAS. Possession belonged to us, and we crafted our first deadly chance inside the opening ten minutes. Scarlett Premerl made a stealth run of the shoulder, striding through one-v-one and forcing a firm save against her powerful effort. Moments later, she guided a header over the crossbar from the centre of the box!
In the twelfth minute, Scarlett Premerl found her goal, steering a first-time strike across the keeper and into the bottom right corner with composure!

We continued to dominate the ball, moving side to side and finding space behind the QAS defence. Shianna Singh planted a perfectly-weighted ball between the centre-backs to find Amy Gunston’s run, but quick reactions from the keeper smothered the chance.
Elli Chapple made an outstanding instinctive save to catch a downward header from point-blank range, and again minutes later kept the danger at bay with a quick close-range block!
Our Lions Women continued to attack the QAS goal, with Ellen Gett forcing an uncomfortable save with a ruthless strike from a tight angle. Amy Gunston nodded a close-range header over the crossbar.
As we searched for a deserved and important second goal, Meaghan McElligott forced an unreal fingertip save after unleashing a monstrous strike from distance. Rachel Dudley directed a first-time effort over the crossbar following a fine team move, and with the final touch of the first half, Ruby Suitor poked home our second after a scramble inside the box!

So we entered the break with a positive 2-0 lead.
Our emphasis on possession remained after the restart, and we resumed our measured practice of picking the locks in the QAS defence.
Several early chances fell to Amy Gunston and Meaghan McElligott, but they couldn’t hit the target. An excellent team move saw Scarlett Premerl wrestle possession in the final third, slipping Chelsea Blisset into space out wide. Her cross met Meg in the centre, but the keeper caught her first-time volley!
Ellen Gett tested the keeper with a hattrick of powerful long-range strikes that were all saved calmly in the centre of the goal.
Scarlett Premerl made a slithering inside run with the ball before slipping Meaghan McElligott off the left shoulder. Meg turned smoothly before forcing a brilliant outstretched save to claw her curling effort from the top left corner.
We maintained control over the game and dictated the tempo in our favour, settling for a well-earned 2-0 victory at Luxury Paints Stadium!
