Our Lions Women bounced back with a brilliant second-half performance against Eastern Suburbs, securing a statement 3-1 victory at Luxury Paints Stadium
Looking to continue our strong run of form at home, our Lions Women welcomed an Eastern Suburbs outfit we hadn’t defeated since the NPL Semi-Finals in 2024.
Five consecutive losses heading into this pivotal third vs fourth clash, and a gut-punching start that saw Tegan Riding give the visitors the lead inside three minutes.
With early pressure mounting, Stella Campbell made a goal-saving block with her leg, deflecting a close-range strike inches shy of the bottom right corner. As we began to grow into the game and dominate in possession, Evelyn Calhoon fashioned our best chance, cutting inside her defender and whipping a sharp effort just shy of the top right corner!
We entered the break trailing 1-0, having responded strongly to an early setback.
We started the second half well. Anna Soulsby forced a save in the centre of the box after a great run and cutback from Scarlett Premerl!
Right after the hour, our dominance finally translated into a golden moment, with Scarlett Premerl bouncing at the far post to fire home our equaliser!

Our Lions Women saw out an extraordinary result at home. A great result that opens the door for us to move into third if we win our games in hand, while also closing the gap on second place as we approach our final five games of the season.
