LIONS WOMEN TRIUMPH OVER OLYMPIC FC WITH A HIGH-TEMPO SECOND-HALF PERFORMANCE
Our Lions Women came out swinging in the second half, overcoming a stubborn Olympic FC defence with a 3-0 showcase.
It was a stiff first half on our return to Luxury Paints Stadium. Firm defending from the visitors prevented our Lions Women from creating too many opportunities.
Macey Edward created an early opportunity, skipping across the byline before forcing an awkward save with her low cross. Tonia-Marie Rantucci had a looping header blocked on the goal line before a follow-up strike was saved by the keeper.
Despite patiently trying to pick the lock, our Lions Women entered the interval at 0-0.
We started the second half with much higher intensity. After a tough fifteen minutes, we finally broke the deadlock through Meaghan McElligott. Setting the ball on the left of the box, Meg rifled a powerful shot into the top left corner with determination.
